I love it some of it is a bit hard to handle for my western taste buds especially the fermented stuff – that I have not mastered yet.
Gain = Chicken – Moo = Pork
Been coming to Thailand for many years and my adventure into the Thai Cuisine have evolved a bit.
First of all there is a huge difference between pure tourist restaurants where even the staff eats somewhere else (not only for the prices) and the authentic Thai restaurants where locals actually travel to just for the food – to find the latter one I highly recommend that you get to know some locals and ask them politely – they will give you their secret munchie place for sure. Do not use rating sites because in this segment they will in most cases utterly fail because they are aimed at tourist. And if the word “Authentic” is on the restaurant I would probably walk away. Just take a look at your own hometown where you know where the good stuff are.
With that’s out of the way this weeks food kick of with one of my all time favorites that just got better with the sun dried and fried pork – what a wonderful marriage of flavors
Be a bit careful with the Penang curry because it’s pretty spicy so if you don’t want it hot be sure to tell when you order. Also the chicken must me in thin slices not chunky to taste the best and you know you have come to the right place. Also the pork should be in thin slices to give you the best taste and texture.
Rice – it’s also very yummy to have any variant of fried rice to this dish.
For me one of the wonders of Thai food is the melting pot of flavors from different dishes that just work.
This was not my first visit nor is it sponsored I payed for the meal and drinks and it was so much food I had to take a doggy bag – awesome afternoon snack.
